Crime – Domestic Help Arrested for Rs 30 Lakh Theft in Dwarka

Crime – The Delhi Police have arrested a domestic worker accused of stealing gold jewellery and cash worth approximately Rs 30 lakh from a residence in Dwarka, recovering the entire stolen property during a targeted operation.

Complaint Filed After Jewellery and Cash Went Missing

The incident came to light after a complaint was lodged on February 1 by Amit Lochav, a resident of Dwarka. In his statement to the police, Lochav reported that several pieces of gold jewellery along with cash had disappeared from his home. Suspicion fell on his domestic help, identified as Jyoti, who had been employed at the house.

Following the complaint, a formal case was registered at the Dwarka Sector-23 police station under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The investigation was assigned to Head Constable Mukesh, who began gathering details and verifying the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft.

Police Team Formed to Track the Accused

Senior officers at the police station constituted a dedicated team to pursue the case. Acting under the supervision of the Station House Officer of Dwarka Sector-23, the team included Assistant Sub-Inspector Karamvir, Head Constable Mukesh, Head Constable Anil Kumar, Woman Assistant Sub-Inspector Bhagwati, and Constable Alka.

During the course of the investigation, police received specific information suggesting that the suspect had relocated to Village Issapur Kheda, which falls under the jurisdiction of Kapashera police station in Delhi. Based on this input, officers planned and carried out a raid at the identified location.

Stolen Gold and Cash Recovered During Raid

According to officials, the raid led to the recovery of the stolen valuables from the accused’s residence. The seized items included around 190 grams of gold jewellery with an estimated value of Rs 30 lakh. Among the recovered articles were four gold bangles weighing nearly 80 grams, two additional bangles (kada) weighing approximately 50 grams, a gold chain of about 25 grams, and a bracelet made of gold and platinum weighing close to 20 grams.

Police also recovered three gold rings, a pair of gold earrings, two silver coins weighing around 20 grams and valued at about Rs 4,000, and Rs 18,000 in cash. Officials stated that all items were taken into custody following due legal procedure.

Accused Taken Into Custody

The accused, Jyoti, 38, wife of Nikka and a resident of Village Issapur Khera in Bamnoli, Delhi, was arrested at the scene. Police confirmed that she is being questioned in connection with the case and further investigation is underway.

Authorities said the swift action was made possible through coordinated efforts and credible information. The recovered property is expected to be returned to the complainant after completion of necessary legal formalities.

Officials reiterated that domestic staff verification and background checks remain crucial for residents to prevent such incidents. The case continues to be investigated to determine if any additional persons were involved or if similar complaints have been reported elsewhere.
