Crime – Delhi Police Clarifies Status of Juvenile in Uttam Nagar Holi Murder Case
Crime – Delhi Police has issued a clarification regarding reports claiming that a juvenile linked to the Uttam Nagar murder case had gone missing. Officials confirmed that the minor had already been taken into custody earlier and had been presented before the Juvenile Justice Board according to legal procedures. The clarification was issued after several reports and online discussions suggested that the juvenile was missing following the Holi-related violence in the area.

Police Warn Against Misinformation Circulating Online
Authorities also raised concerns about inaccurate information being circulated across social media platforms regarding the case. According to police officials, teams are actively monitoring online activity to identify accounts spreading misleading or false claims related to the investigation.
Police stated that their cyber monitoring units are regularly tracking posts and messages on platforms such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram. Officials warned that deliberately spreading rumors or misleading content about an ongoing investigation is a criminal offence and could lead to legal consequences.
The police urged the public to rely only on verified information released through official channels and avoid sharing unconfirmed claims. They emphasized that any attempt to disturb public order through misinformation would be dealt with strictly under the law.
Sixteen Arrested in Connection With the Case
Investigators have so far taken 16 individuals into custody in connection with the murder case that took place during Holi celebrations in Uttam Nagar. According to the police, those detained include 11 men, three women, and two juveniles.
One of the minors, apprehended on March 5, had been mistakenly described as missing in certain reports. Police clarified that the juvenile was processed according to legal procedures and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board. Following the hearing, the minor was sent to an observation home as mandated under juvenile justice regulations.
Officials reiterated that the investigation is progressing as per due legal procedures and that all individuals involved are being dealt with according to the provisions of law.
Incident Originated From Clash Between Two Families
The violence occurred on March 4 in JJ Colony located in Uttam Nagar, where a dispute reportedly broke out between members of two families. What began as an argument soon escalated into a physical confrontation involving multiple individuals from both sides.
During the clash, several people sustained injuries. One of the injured individuals later died the following day due to the severity of the injuries sustained during the altercation.
Police teams reached the location after receiving information about the incident and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the conflict. Statements from witnesses and individuals present at the scene were collected as part of the inquiry.
Strict Legal Sections Invoked in the Case
In addition to registering a murder charge, authorities have also invoked stringent provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the case. Officials indicated that the inclusion of these legal provisions reflects the seriousness of the allegations being investigated.
Police sources said that investigators are continuing to gather evidence, examine the sequence of events, and determine the precise role of each person involved in the confrontation.
At the same time, law enforcement officials have appealed to residents and social media users to refrain from sharing unverified claims about the incident. Maintaining calm and relying on verified updates from authorities, they said, is essential to ensure peace in the community.
