Bengal SIR: Today in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee will meet with TMC booth-level agents

Bengal SIR: Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, is scheduled to meet with the Trinamool Congress booth-level agents (BLAs) on Monday at the Netaji Indoor Stadium in Kolkata.

A top representative of the Trinamool Congress said that the Chief Minister would meet with a few BLAs from Kolkata and the adjacent areas.

BLAs have been invited to this conference from 11 Assembly seats in Kolkata, as well as from a few chosen constituencies in the districts of Howrah, Hooghly, North 24 Parganas, and South 24 Parganas.

The scenario resulting from the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of West Bengal’s electoral records would be the primary topic of discussion at this meeting.

Nearly 58.5 lakh voters’ names were removed from the state after the release of the draft voters’ list in the first phase of SIR.

The 11 Assembly seats in Kolkata have established a record for the most proportion of voters purged off the list.

Bhabanipur, the Chief Minister’s home seat, appears on this list.

But last week, Mamata Banerjee met with the Bhabanipur BLAs at her Kalighat home.

She had made a suggestion at the time that there would be more extensive talks with the BLAs.

Some political watchers anticipate that the Chief Minister may train her pistol on the Election Commission for its involvement in holding the SIR in Bengal during the meeting on Monday.

A group of political analysts are watching Monday’s meeting to see what message she conveys to the BLAs.
