Crash During Night Patrol

According to official information released by the Ministry of National Defence, the aircraft had taken off from the 9th Main Jet Base Command in Balıkesir shortly before the incident. At approximately 12:56 a.m., communication with the jet was interrupted. Radar contact was also lost minutes later, raising immediate concerns among air traffic and military control units.

Search and rescue teams were deployed without delay. Ambulances, fire crews, and police units were dispatched to the area close to the highway where the aircraft was believed to have gone down. Visual footage from the scene showed fragments of the aircraft scattered across open ground, with smoke and flames visible shortly after the impact.

Government Confirms Pilot’s Death

In an official statement, authorities confirmed that the aircraft had crashed and that the pilot did not survive. The ministry expressed condolences to the pilot’s family and acknowledged his service. The statement described the fallen officer as having lost his life while carrying out a mission flight.

The government added that the wreckage had been located during coordinated rescue operations conducted overnight. No additional casualties or civilian injuries were reported in connection with the crash.

Investigation Into Cause Begins

Officials have announced that a formal investigation is now underway to determine what led to the accident. A specialized accident investigation team has been assigned to examine the circumstances surrounding the loss of the aircraft. Technical assessments, analysis of flight data, and evaluation of maintenance records are expected to form part of the inquiry.

At this stage, authorities have not indicated whether weather conditions, technical malfunction, or other operational factors may have contributed to the incident. Findings will be made public once the review process is complete.
