Amit Shah : uses the Sabarimala gold robbery as a campaign pivot, and PM Modi’s visit is expected to serve as the focal point of the BJP’s Kerala drive
Amit Shah: The Bharatiya Janata Party is getting ready to formally launch its Kerala Assembly election campaign, building on the political foundation established by Home Minister Amit Shah during his recently concluded visit to the state capital, in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Thiruvananthapuram later this month.

According to party insiders, a refined campaign narrative is already emerging, and PM Modi’s arrival will signal the transition from internal consolidation to public outreach.
PM Modi’s visit is said to have been strategically preceded by HM Shah’s meetings with the state leadership of the BJP and his speech to local body members.
At the commencement of the “Mission 2026” campaign, HM Shah hinted that the purported loss of gold from Sabarimala will be framed as a major political issue, one that the party feels has national appeal and resonance outside of Kerala.
HM Shah launched a frontal assault on Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, demanding that the Sabarimala gold matter be investigated by an unbiased and independent body.
He claimed to have seen the FIR and said that it was written in a way that shielded the accused and called into question the legitimacy of an inquiry when people connected to the governing Left Democratic Front were suspected.
The Union Home Minister said that because the problem affected the religion of millions of followers, it was a national issue rather than just a state-level dispute.
Additionally, he said that the United Democratic Front was unable to disassociate itself from the case since evidence indicated that Congress leaders were involved.
Declaring that Sabarimala will continue to be a recurrent topic in the party’s discourse, he called on the Chief Minister to turn over the investigation to an impartial body and said that the BJP would step up its campaign with statewide demonstrations and door-to-door outreach initiatives.
Beyond the immediate issue, HM Shah said that the Congress was deteriorating domestically and that communism had lost influence worldwide in an effort to shape the larger political narrative ahead of 2026.
He reiterated the BJP’s goal of having a chief minister sworn in under the lotus emblem and contended that only a BJP-led government could bring about Kerala’s prosperity.
The focus now shifts to PM Modi’s scheduled visit, which is likely to solidify the Sabarimala narrative, energize the cadre base, and officially put the BJP’s Kerala Assembly campaign on a national political footing. HM Shah has defined the ideological and campaign agenda.
The 140-member Kerala Assembly currently lacks a BJP representative, and Suresh Gopi became victorious from Thrissur in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
