Amit Shah : to Launch Assembly Complex, Conservation Institute During Assam Tour
Amit Shah: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to undertake a full-day visit to Assam on January 30, during which he will take part in a series of official, cultural, and organisational engagements across the state. The visit is expected to underline the Centre’s focus on infrastructure development, environmental research, and community outreach in the northeastern region.

Foundation Stones in Dibrugarh
The visit will begin in Dibrugarh, where Shah will lay the foundation stone for a new Assam Legislative Assembly building. The project is aimed at creating a modern and efficient legislative complex designed to meet contemporary administrative needs. Alongside this, he will also lay the foundation stone for the Wildlife Research Institute, a facility intended to strengthen scientific research and conservation efforts across the state.
Focus on Modern Infrastructure and Conservation
According to state government officials, the proposed Assembly complex is being planned as a technologically advanced facility with improved infrastructure for legislative work. The Wildlife Research Institute, meanwhile, is expected to contribute to the study, preservation, and protection of Assam’s diverse flora and fauna, supporting long-term conservation strategies in one of India’s most biodiverse regions.
Inauguration of Khanikar Stadium Phase I
During the same programme in Dibrugarh, Shah will inaugurate Phase I of Khanikar Stadium. The inauguration, scheduled for around 10:30 am at Khanikar, marks a step toward enhancing sports infrastructure in Upper Assam. Officials said the stadium project is part of broader efforts to encourage sports participation and provide improved facilities for athletes in the region.
Visit to Mishing Cultural Festival in Dhemaji
Later in the day, the Union Home Minister will travel to Dhemaji to attend the 10th Mishing Cultural Festival at Kareng Chapori, scheduled for 12:15 pm. The annual festival is organised by the Mishing Cultural Festival community and serves as a platform to showcase the tribe’s cultural traditions, including folk dances, music, traditional attire, indigenous art forms, and local cuisine.
Cultural Outreach and Community Engagement
Organisers say the festival plays an important role in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the Mishing community. Shah’s participation is expected to highlight the importance of cultural inclusion and engagement with indigenous communities as part of broader social development efforts in Assam.
Party Meetings in Guwahati
In the evening, Shah will arrive in Guwahati, where he is scheduled to meet party office bearers and grassroots workers at the state party office. The interaction is expected to centre on organisational matters, preparations for upcoming political programmes, and strategies to strengthen outreach at the grassroots level.
Review of Organisational Preparedness
Senior leaders of the party’s Assam unit are likely to brief the Union Home Minister on ongoing initiatives, organisational readiness, and future plans. Party sources indicated that the meeting is also intended to motivate workers and ensure coordination ahead of forthcoming political activities in the state.
Security and Administrative Arrangements
Authorities have confirmed that comprehensive security arrangements have been put in place at all venues in view of the high-profile visit. Officials said coordination between central and state agencies has been ensured to facilitate the smooth conduct of all scheduled programmes.
