US: Two people are killed in the Eastern Pacific by a attack on a suspected drug boat
US: As part of Operation Southern Spear, the US military struck a suspected drug-trafficking vessel in the eastern Pacific Ocean on Monday, killing two persons, according to the US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

An accused narcotics boat at sea was the focus of the operation, according to SOUTHCOM. The command reported that no US military personnel were hurt in the strike, but it did confirm that two persons were killed.
Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a deadly kinetic attack on a vessel used by Designated Terrorist Organizations in international seas on December 29 under the command of @SecWar Pete Hegseth. Intelligence verified that the ship was involved in narco-trafficking activities and was traveling along well-known routes in the Eastern Pacific. There were two male narco-terrorists slain. In an X post, SOUTHCOM said that no U.S. military personnel suffered any injuries.
US soldiers operating under SOUTHCOM carried out the operation as a component of the Trump administration’s continuing anti-drug campaign.
Earlier on Monday, the operation was conducted in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
According to SOUTHCOM, Operation Southern Spear, an operation to obstruct cocaine trafficking routes, is connected to the attack. According to government data, attacks on suspected drug vessels throughout the operation have already claimed the lives of at least 107 persons.
Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump gave few specifics about a different operation aimed against Venezuela’s drug infrastructure. He said that there was “a major explosion in the dock area where they load the boats up with drugs.”
“So we hit all the boats, and now we hit the area, it’s an implementation area, that’s where they implement, and that is no longer around,” Trump said.
Trump refused to elaborate when asked whether the US military was involved in the operation in Venezuela. He added, “I don’t want to say that,” according to CNN.
“I don’t want to reveal who it was, but I know precisely who it was. However, it was near the coast, you know.
According to CNN, Trump first revealed the operation in a recent interview when he said that the US hit “a big plant, or a big facility,” adding, “We knocked that out.”
In recent weeks, the Trump administration has increased its pressure on Venezuela by initiating many operations in the eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea and threatening ground attacks.
