Trump: US President Donald Trump said all countries must unify against the “evil forces of radical Islamic terrorism” after denouncing the fatal antisemitic terror attack in Australia on Tuesday.

“Let me take a moment to send the love and prayers to the people of Australia, especially those affected by the horrific and antisemitic terrorist attack that took place during a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney,” Trump said at a White House Hanukkah luncheon. In order to combat terrorism and bigotry, he said, nations must unite.

Trump once again called the crime a “horrific antisemitic terrorist attack” while welcoming Hanukkah-celebrating visitors in the East Room.

The incident at Bondi Beach on December 14, which occurred during a Hanukkah gathering of the Jewish community and resulted in at least 15 fatalities and several injuries, is still being investigated by Australian authorities. Officially, the attack has been classified as a terrorist act.

In a significant revelation, Telangana Police revealed on Tuesday that one of the suspects, Sajid Akram, was originally from Hyderabad, refuting previous reports that said the assailants were Pakistani. A father-son team, Sajid Akram, 50, who was shot dead by Australian police, and his 24-year-old son, Naveed Akram, are accused of carrying out the assault.

According to investigators, the assailants were motivated by the ideology of the Islamic State. Two manufactured ISIS flags and improvised explosive devices were found in a car connected to the younger suspect, according to Australian police. The flags were subsequently removed and securely fastened.

According to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, the shooting was a “devastating terror attack” and a “targeted act of antisemitism” targeting Jewish Australians, and it seems to have been motivated by radical Islamic State ideology. “There is no place for this hate, violence and terrorism in our nation,” he said.

Ahmed, the guy who went viral for attacking and disarming the assailant following the incident, was also introduced to Albanese on Tuesday. Ahmed can be seen lunging from behind, putting his arms around the shooter, and yanking the pistol away as gunfire erupts in the widely circulated footage.

You dash into danger on Bondi Beach and disarm a terrorist, putting yourself at danger to rescue others.

We see the finest of Australians at the worst moments. And on Sunday night, we saw just that.

Albanese remarked on X, “Ahmed, you are an Australian hero,” praising his courage. You dash into danger on Bondi Beach and disarm a terrorist, putting yourself at danger to rescue others. We see the finest of Australians at the worst moments.

Trump’s intelligence director criticized the Australian government during the repercussions, tying the assault to migration and unrestrained Islamist radicalism. She declared in a forceful statement that “the attack should not come as a surprise to anyone” since “this is the direct result of the massive influx of Islamists to Australia.”

She also commended the Trump administration’s emphasis on border security and deporting suspected terrorists, pointing out that Islamist extremism constituted the biggest danger to international security.

According to New South Wales Police, there are still limits on aerial mobility and the area around Bondi Beach is restricted while investigations are ongoing. According to CNN, the Bondi Beach massacre is being seen as one of the worst terror acts in recent memory in Australia, a country that has experienced relatively few mass shootings since tough gun controls were implemented in 1996.
