Trump: Following meetings in Florida, Netanyahu unveils Israel Peace Prize
Trump: Following a bilateral meeting between the two leaders in Florida, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday that US President Donald Trump will receive Israel’s highest civilian honor, the Israel Prize for Peace, CNN reported.

According to Netanyahu, the Israeli government has chosen to grant Trump the Israel Prize for Peace, which is the first time the Peace category has been presented and the first time a non-Israeli citizen has received the prize in 80 years.
During a joint news appearance with Trump after their bilateral discussions at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home in Florida on Monday, Netanyahu made the announcement. In response, Trump described the honor as surprising and gratifying.
“We decided to break a convention or establish a new one, which is to give President Trump the Israel Prize, which we have never given to a non-Israeli in 80 years, because he has broken so many conventions to surprise people.”Our Minister of Education publicly declared at lunch that President Donald J. Trump should get this honor for his enormous contributions to the Jewish and Israeli people,” Netanyahu said.
“This reflects the overwhelming sentiment of Israelis across the spectrum, they appreciate what you’ve done to help Israel and our common battle against the terrorists.”
Regarding the prize, Trump said it was “really surprising and very much appreciated.”
The Israel Prize, the nation’s highest civilian honor, is given to Israelis for their achievements in the arts, sciences, and humanities. There has never been an award in the Peace category. Trump was chosen after Israel changed the award regulations in July 2025 to permit a foreign national to receive the honor.
Trump is anticipated to accept the award during Israel’s Independence Day festivities, according to CNN.The US president said he would think about attending the event, and Education Minister Yoav Kisch joined the discussion over the phone to officially tell Trump of the choice.
Trump and Netanyahu also discussed Hamas disarmament, which includes the occupied West Bank, and the second phase of the Gaza peace plan. While acknowledging the two leaders’ disagreements, Trump said that talks were still continuing on.
“We’ve had a discussion, big discussion, for a long time on the West Bank, and I wouldn’t say we agree on the West Bank 100%, but we will come to a conclusion on the West Bank,” Trump said.
Trump said he was unconcerned with Israel’s conduct despite disagreements.
“I have no concerns with Israel’s actions. Although I’m worried about what other people are doing—or perhaps not doing—I’m not worried. They have fulfilled the plan. “They’re powerful,” he said.
Trump went on to say, “Israel has lived up to the plan, 100%,”
Netanyahu hailed Trump’s efforts in the area and called the negotiations very fruitful.
“I had a very, very productive meeting with US President Donald Trump,” Netanyahu said. “Thank you for your support.”
Trump, he said, had “achieved remarkable things in the Middle East because we work together.”
“We discuss our opinions. We sometimes disagree, but we sort things out, and most of the time we agree,” Netanyahu said.
