In an interview with IANS, Singh explained his choice to run for Congress by saying, “I’ve been involved in nonprofit human services for a number of years, and I do not see it being represented in our township, our county, and across New Jersey.”

The four-county district, according to Singh, is neglected in important policy areas despite its diversity. He said that he wants to support low-income families, immigrant communities, the elderly, and young people in order to guarantee that “we have opportunity for everyone.” “We do see a great need to strengthen human services,” he added.

A major component of his campaign theme is his personal story. Singh claimed to have been raised in a farming family in Jhajjar, Haryana, which is close to New Delhi, and to have worked in agricultural for many years while going to school.

He recalled spending a lot of time on the farm throughout middle school, high school, and school breaks. “I belonged to a farming family for generations,” he added.

Singh said that he moved to the US in 1998 in search of employment after earning a degree in engineering. He remembered coming with little supplies. He described the US as “a country which is built by immigrants, really hardworking immigrants, skilled labor,” adding, “I had only $90 when I landed in the US.”

He said that because of his employer’s assistance from day one, he was able to create a career and start a family in New Jersey. Singh said that he now calls West Windsor home after raising a family there.

Since then, Singh said, he has developed a career spanning over thirty years in technology consulting and public sector work, concentrating on large-scale initiatives that directly help families and kids.

He said that his professional background has influenced his perspective on public policy and governance, adding, “I chose this work, which resonates with my values.”

He ran for mayor of West Windsor last year and claimed to have been within 164 votes of winning, demonstrating his expertise in political politics.

Singh characterized the campaign as a powerful grassroots endeavor, saying, “I ran for mayor and came really close to winning last year.”

He said the campaign influenced how he would approach the congressional contest. Singh recalled that during his mayoral campaign, he knocked on more than 8,000 doors in less than two months, saying, “My core campaign work is the grassroots level.” According to him, a key component of his approach is still “listening to and connecting with the people right on the door.”

Singh highlighted the 12th District of New Jersey’s ethnic diversity, including sizable Black, Asian, and Hispanic populations in addition to a sizable immigrant and small-business community. He said, “It’s a really diverse and proud to be a strong, thriving district.”

Despite this variety, he said, human services and disability assistance concerns have not gotten enough attention. Singh said that his years of working for charity organizations that assist persons with disabilities had given him a better understanding of how choices made at the federal level impact people’s daily lives.

He said that in order to enhance quality of life and increase services, he collaborated closely with social workers, caretakers, and municipal authorities.

Singh claimed to have seen an increase in community support while on the campaign road. More than 200 people have already agreed to volunteer for his campaign, he claimed, adding, “I am getting support from every town safe, every neighborhood.”

He emphasized that South Asian, Hispanic, and other populations are also supported, in addition to Indian Americans.

Singh also spoke on foreign policy, emphasizing how Congress shapes US national security and alliances. He pledged to improve India-US relations and referred to New Delhi as a crucial strategic partner.

The 12th Congressional District of New Jersey is regarded as a politically important seat and has been held by Democrats for many years.
