Sao Paulo Paralysed: Massive Blackout Millions Are Left in the Dark After Sparks Cause Travel Chaos
Sao Paulo Paralysed: On Thursday, more than 1.4 million people in Sao Paulo were without power after a number of trees fell on the city’s grid the previous day due to severe winds. Nearly 400 planes were canceled, although local officials reported no casualties.

Utility Enel has not said when services will resume. Since gusts of almost 100 kilometers per hour began to pound Sao Paulo, one of its executives, Marcelo Puertas, informed reporters that the Italian business had 1,300 employees trying to find a solution.
231 trees have fallen, according to Sao Paulo city hall, as a result of an extratropical storm that emerged in southern Brazil. The majority of the canceled flights, according to aviation officials, were at the nearby Congonhas airport; however, Guarulhos International Airport, which is located outside the city, was also impacted.
Journalists were informed Wednesday night by Mayor Ricardo Nunes, whose administration is in charge of pruning the trees that were pressed up against the grid, that the corporation was not making every attempt to address the issues.
The resident is frustrated.
“Every time something happens, we are left behind without electricity,” Nunes added, criticizing the Italian utility firm as “irresponsible.” Over 2 million people in Sao Paulo were without energy on Wednesday, making the grid’s situation considerably worse.
Residents and officials were further incensed on Thursday when many automobiles with the Enel brand were seen on camera in the company’s parking lot in downtown Sao Paulo. In a statement on Thursday, the water company Sabesp warned that their services are already being impacted by the absence of energy since their pumps aren’t functioning properly.
