Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said Beijing had mediated a number of international disputes, including the India-Pakistan standoff, during his speech at the Symposium on the International Situation and China’s Foreign Relations on Tuesday (local time). The Chinese Foreign Ministry released a statement on X.We have adopted a fair and impartial approach, concentrating on treating the symptoms as well as the underlying causes in order to create lasting harmony. We mediated in northern Myanmar, the Iranian nuclear problem, the tensions between Pakistan and India, the conflicts between Palestine and Israel, and the latest confrontation between Cambodia and Thailand in accordance with this Chinese strategy of resolving hotspot situations,” Wang said.

Wang’s comments follow months after India and Pakistan engaged in a short but fierce military conflict in May, which was brought on by a terror assault that killed 26 innocent people in the Pahalgam valley of Jammu and Kashmir on April 22.

In response, India launched Operation Sindoor, which targeted Pakistan’s and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir’s terror infrastructure.

India has always denied any third-party mediation, arguing that direct military-to-military contact was used to end the four-day conflict.

According to New Delhi, Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) phoned the Indian DGMO after this severe damage was sustained, and both parties decided to cease all fire and military operations on land, in the air, and at sea as of May 10.

Given its strong defense connections with Pakistan, China’s allegation has brought attention back to its participation during the conflict. The biggest supplier of weapons to Pakistan is China.

In November, the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission released a report accusing China of planning a misinformation campaign after Operation Sindoor.

Beijing reportedly used phony social media accounts to spread AI-generated photographs of fictitious aircraft wreckage in an attempt to undermine sales of French Rafale fighter planes while pushing its own J-35 aircraft, according to the advisory body to the US Congress.

On the diplomatic front, Beijing apologized for India’s attacks while urging moderation on the opening day of Operation Sindoor.China considers it unfortunate that India conducted a military action this morning. On May 7, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said, “We are worried about the current state of affairs.”
