Bangladesh: In Jesore, a Hindu manufacturing owner was shot dead by attackers
Bangladesh: According to Prothom Alo, an ice plant owner was shot dead in the Monirampur neighborhood of Jesore in another assault on a Hindu man in Bangladesh.

Local media reports that Rana Pratap Bairagi was the acting editor of the Narail-based daily “Dainik BD Khobor” and the owner of an ice production plant in Kapalia Bazar, Monirampur.
After calling him out from the ice factory, three attackers on a motorbike led him to an alley, shot him in the head at close range, and then took off. According to Prohom Alo, Rana Pratap passed away immediately.
Prothom Alo was informed by Md Raziullah Khan, the officer-in-charge (OC) of the Monirampur police station, that the retrieved corpse was being submitted for a post mortem.
An investigation is under progress, but the police have not disclosed the reason for the murder.
Reports of assaults and growing insecurity experienced by minority groups have surfaced in recent weeks.
Notably, Khokon Das, a Hindu man, died from injuries after being set on fire on New Year’s Eve in a recent sad episode that garnered national attention. He was reportedly attacked with sharp objects, doused with gasoline, then set ablaze by the assailants.
Das dived into a small pond at the side of the road in an effort to rescue himself. The perpetrators fled when locals heard his cries and hurried to the spot. After being saved by locals, Das was first taken to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital, where he got emergency care. Later that evening, when his health worsened, he was transported to Dhaka. Later, he passed away from his wounds.
The three primary suspects in the case have been taken into custody by Bangladesh’s special force, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
The death of a Hindu youngster in Bangladesh had already drawn grave concern from India’s Ministry of External Affairs, which connected the incident to the nation’s larger concerns about minority protection and law and order.
According to the MEA, independent evaluations have recorded more than 2,900 instances of violence against minorities, including murders, arson, and land grabs, during the time of Muhammad Yunus’ interim administration in Bangladesh.
