Kate Hudson : discusses her decision to decline the role of Mary Jane in “Spider-Man.”
Kate Hudson : said that she was close to playing Mary Jane Watson in the 2002 film “Spider-Man,” but she declined the part, which ultimately went to Kirsten Dunst.

She said on “Watch What Happens Live” with presenter Andy Cohen, “It’s one of those things where I look back and think, ‘That would have been nice to be in a ‘Spider-Man’ movie.”
Instead, the actress disclosed the film she produced, according to variety.com.
“But at the same time, I did a movie called ‘Four Feathers,'” the actress said. I had an experience I would not have had otherwise, and I got to meet Heath Ledger, who ended up being a really dear friend.
The military drama “Four Feathers,” which starred Hudson, Heath Ledger, Djimon Hounsou, and Wes Bentley, came out a few months after “Spider-Man.”
“There is a part of me that believes that life unfolds just as it should. I am thus appreciative of it. However, after looking at it, Hudson said, “Aw, it would have been fun to be (Mary Jane).”
The $826 million box office success of “Spider-Man” led to a trilogy starring Tobey Maguire and Dunst, all of which were directed by Sam Raimi. After “Spider-Man 3” in 2007, Maguire put down his web shooters, but he made a comeback for the MCU’s universe-spanning team-up movie “Spider-Man: No Way Home” in 2021.
“It doesn’t feel good to talk about it because your circumstances in life happen the way they happen and the people in the movie are the right people,” Hudson said.
Additionally, she said that she had declined film proposals that would have paired her with her mother, Goldie Hawn.
It must be hilarious. It must strike in a new manner. We haven’t read it yet, but we consider it. We still don’t know the answer to that one.
