Anup emphasized that the trip has been just as significant as the goal while posting a series of stills from the short film on Instagram.

“Holy Curse, our short film, was unable to make it to the Oscar shortlist this time,” he wrote. Nevertheless, I really appreciate your kindness and support. I’m grateful to my director, @kapoorsnig, for this. Please watch it on The New Yorker’s YouTube channel if you haven’t already.

Holy Curse, directed by Snigdha Kapoor, centers on 11-year-old Radha as she struggles with her gender identity while visiting India and is subjected to coercive orthodox rituals by her family in the hopes of lifting an apparent ancestral curse that is influencing her thinking.

Adithi Kalkunte, Suhas Deshpande, and Shardul Bharadwaj are also featured.

Anup started his career in television serials like Sea Hawks and Saaya. He is married to actress Juhi Babbar.

He subsequently took a hiatus from television to pursue a career in film, making appearances in Hum Pyar Tumhi Se Kar Baithe, Hathyar, and Kharaashein: Scars From Riots in 2003.

He starred in Ashoke Pandit’s 2004 movie Sheen. However, he went back to work in CID: Special Bureau on television. Anup was a member of the series Crime Patrol and is still working in movies and television.

He most recently appeared in the television series Saare Jahan Se Accha, which centers on a tenacious Indian spy who must outsmart and deceive his Pakistani counterpart in order to undermine Pakistan’s nuclear development.

Additionally, Anup had a brief cameo in Anusha Rizvi’s film The Great Shamsuddin Family. Kritika Kamra, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Sheeba Chaddha, Farida Jalal, and Purab Kohli are among the ensemble cast members.
