Patna Metro Achieves Major Milestone: Following the completion of the second tunnel to PMCH, station work will begin in January

Patna Metro Achieves Major Milestone: With the complete construction of the second tunnel connecting to the PMCH station, the Patna Metro project has reached an important milestone. The subterranean corridor’s construction has increased even more as a result of this development. Because of the Radha-Krishna temple, the Tunnel Boring Machine’s (TBM) digging was stopped for three months in this same location. The tunnel’s path was changed to protect the temple while honoring the residents’ feelings, and the project was finally finished successfully.

Now that the tunnel is finished, building of stations, platform setup, and other technical projects in this metro corridor segment will pick up speed. Within this 1,480-meter subterranean section, two tunnels have been built; the first was finished on November 10 and the second is already complete. The engineering team claims that this challenging phase has increased the project’s complexity and the team’s level of expertise.

TBM Section Cleanup: Six-Month Timeframe for Opening
Now that the tunnel is complete, the TBM machines will be retrieved. About six months will pass before this new tunnel from PMCH to Gandhi Maidan is cleaned and structurally inspected. This segment will only see an expansion of subterranean infrastructure activity after this time.

The technical team and junior engineers made a unique contribution.

The PMCH region is quite sensitive in terms of subterranean structure, according to the tunnel building team. To protect nearby structures, the hospital, traffic, and places of worship, extreme accuracy was needed. Even in the challenging 230-meter stretch where a diversion had to be built under the temple, engineers were successful. This particular section’s completion is thought to be the most difficult part of the project overall.

Station Building Will Accelerate January
Work on the platform, wall segments, technical rooms, and other amenities inside the PMCH station will start in January when the tunnel is finished. In order to guarantee that travelers have access to secure and pleasant facilities, the station’s interior is being designed in a contemporary manner.

The subterranean path will also see quick progress on important safety requirements including cable ducts, ventilation systems, and emergency exits. This stretch is anticipated to be the busiest and most important route for the Patna Metro once the line from PMCH to Gandhi Maidan is completed.

The subterranean route is expected to be operational by 2025, according to Patna Metro authorities. Now that the second tunnel is finished, the project is at a critical stage.
