Major Investment in District Infrastructure

On the first day of the Yatra’s second phase, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 101 development projects with an estimated cost of ₹298 crore. Alongside this, he formally inaugurated 294 completed projects worth ₹93 crore. Together, these initiatives span a wide range of sectors aimed at improving basic services, civic infrastructure, and local facilities across the district.

Officials said the projects are expected to accelerate ongoing development efforts in Madhubani and address long-standing needs related to governance, livelihoods, and community infrastructure. The administration views the combined launch of completed and upcoming works as a way to ensure continuity in development planning and execution.

Visit to Araria Sangram and On-Ground Inspections

As part of the Samriddhi Yatra itinerary, Nitish Kumar visited Araria Sangram, where he inspected several recently completed and ongoing projects. Among the key sites was the newly constructed Panchayat Government Building, designed to strengthen local administrative functions and improve access to public services at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister also reviewed a renovated pond developed under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali campaign, an initiative focused on water conservation, environmental sustainability, and ecological restoration. Officials briefed him on the progress and impact of the project, highlighting its role in groundwater recharge and community use.

Focus on Livelihoods and Women’s Empowerment

During the visit, Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Jeevika Bhavan, a dedicated livelihood centre established to support self-help groups and income-generation activities, particularly for women. He also took time to inspect exhibition stalls set up by Jeevika groups and various government departments, where products, services, and scheme-related information were displayed.

The interaction allowed the Chief Minister to directly engage with beneficiaries and officials, offering feedback and seeking updates on how government programmes are being implemented at the local level. The emphasis on Jeevika underscored the state’s continued focus on women’s economic participation and rural livelihoods.

Distribution of Benefits and Welfare Initiatives

In addition to infrastructure-related activities, the Chief Minister distributed cheques to beneficiaries of several government welfare schemes. These initiatives are intended to strengthen social security, improve household stability, and support vulnerable sections of society through direct financial assistance.

Further foundation stones were laid and projects inaugurated during the day, covering areas such as public amenities, administrative facilities, and community development. Officials noted that these efforts are part of a broader strategy to reinforce welfare infrastructure and ensure that government support reaches intended recipients efficiently.

Public Dialogue and Administrative Review

Later in the day, Nitish Kumar held a review meeting with district and state officials to assess the progress of development works and address implementation challenges. This was followed by a public dialogue programme held near the Durga Temple in Araria Sangram, where residents shared feedback and concerns directly with the Chief Minister.

Addressing the gathering, he spoke about the significance of the social security pension scheme, describing it as a key measure in providing financial stability, dignity, and a sense of security to elderly citizens, widows, and persons with disabilities. He emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring timely delivery of such benefits.

Platform for Direct Governance Engagement

The Samriddhi Yatra continues to function as a forum for direct engagement between the government and the public, allowing leaders to review projects on the ground while listening to local voices. The programme reflects the administration’s stated aim of promoting inclusive growth, transparent governance, and responsive administration at the grassroots level.

The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Rajya Sabha MP and JD(U) National Working President Sanjay Jha, Ministers Vijay Kumar Choudhary and Arun Shankar Prasad, district in-charge Minister Leshi Singh, MPs and MLAs from the region, Members of the Legislative Council, senior officials, and other dignitaries.
