Employment – Mega Job Fair in Delhi Connects Veterans with Top Recruiters
Employment – A large-scale employment fair for former armed forces personnel was organised in Delhi on Friday, bringing together hundreds of veterans and leading employers under one roof. The event, hosted by the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) under the Ministry of Defence, took place at the Aravali Auditorium near Shankar Vihar Metro Station in Delhi Cantonment.

The fair began early in the morning, with participants arriving from different regions. Officials had advised ex-servicemen to carry valid identity cards along with multiple copies of their resumes to facilitate quick interaction with recruiters.
Platform Linking Veterans with Industry
The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to bridge the gap between retired defence personnel and the civilian job market. According to officials, the event provides a structured platform where veterans from the Army, Navy and Air Force can directly engage with companies from various sectors.
Employers representing industries such as security services, information technology, administration, logistics, healthcare, and engineering were present at the venue. These sectors are known to value the discipline, leadership qualities and technical skills that former military personnel bring to the workforce.
Support and Incentives for Employers
To encourage participation from companies, the DGR offered several facilities at no cost. Employers were given access to free online registration, complimentary job postings, and allocated stalls without any charge. In addition, registered organisations could browse through a database of resumes submitted by ex-servicemen ahead of the event.
Officials noted that this system allows recruiters to shortlist candidates in advance and schedule interviews during the fair, making the hiring process more efficient and targeted.
Continued Focus on Veteran Welfare
The Ministry of Defence highlighted that such job fairs reflect the government’s continued commitment to the rehabilitation and welfare of ex-servicemen. Through the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare, efforts are being made to ensure that veterans transition smoothly into civilian careers after completing their service.
An official statement emphasised that former defence personnel possess a unique combination of training and experience that is highly sought after in multiple industries. The initiative aims to ensure that these individuals receive suitable opportunities where their capabilities are recognised and utilised.
Nationwide Job Fair Drive
The Delhi event is part of a broader nationwide programme planned for the financial year 2025–26. The DGR has scheduled 18 such employment fairs across different cities to expand outreach and provide equal access to opportunities.
So far, similar events have already been conducted in cities including Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kolkata, Secunderabad, Jammu, Bhopal, Kochi, Guwahati, Dehradun, Bengaluru, Pune and Chandigarh. The Delhi fair marks another key step in this ongoing series.
Digital Registration and Access
Both employers and ex-servicemen have been encouraged to register through an online platform designed specifically for veteran employment. The portal enables seamless interaction between job seekers and recruiters while also offering access to relevant job listings.
Officials stated that the digital system not only simplifies registration but also strengthens the overall recruitment process by providing verified data and structured communication channels.
Opportunity for Skilled Workforce Integration
For many attending veterans, the job fair served as an opportunity to present their skills directly to organisations that understand their background. Recruiters, on the other hand, gained access to a pool of trained, disciplined and mission-ready professionals.
Such initiatives continue to play a crucial role in ensuring that those who have served the nation find meaningful employment opportunities in civilian life, while also contributing their expertise to India’s growing industries.
