Governance – Dhami Engages Villagers at Public Outreach Event in Haridwar

Governance – Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday attended a public outreach programme in rural Haridwar, where he met residents face-to-face and reviewed local concerns under an ongoing statewide campaign aimed at taking governance closer to citizens.

Direct Interaction in Rural Haridwar

The event was held at Aryanagar (Gajiwali) village in the Shyampur Kangri area, where the Chief Minister chose to sit among villagers rather than address them from a distant stage. The gathering was part of the “Mukhya Sevak Ki Chaupal” initiative being organised under the broader “Jan-Jan Ki Sarkar, Jan-Jan Ke Dwar” campaign.

During the interaction, village heads and residents from nearby areas raised a range of issues, including infrastructure gaps and service delivery delays. The Chief Minister listened to the grievances individually and instructed concerned officials present at the venue to take prompt action.

Instructions for Swift Grievance Redressal

Emphasising administrative accountability, he directed the District Magistrate to ensure that all applications submitted during the programme are addressed without delay. He made it clear that complaints should not remain pending unnecessarily and that departments must resolve matters on priority.

Officials from various departments were also asked to act immediately wherever possible. According to the Chief Minister, such platforms are meant to deliver tangible outcomes rather than symbolic engagement.

He described the Chaupal as a model of responsive governance, stating that people should not have to make repeated visits to government offices. Instead, he said, the administration must reach citizens at their doorstep.

Commitment to Welfare and Transparency

Addressing the gathering, Dhami reiterated that the state government remains focused on ensuring that welfare schemes benefit the last eligible person. He said meeting public expectations is central to the administration’s functioning and that responsibility will be fixed at every level to maintain transparency.

The Chief Minister assured residents that there would be no negligence in addressing public grievances. He added that public trust and support serve as his primary motivation and described himself as a public servant working on behalf of the people.

He underlined that the Chaupal is intended to function as an open dialogue between citizens and the government. Sensitivity, transparency, and accountability, he said, form the foundation of the administration’s approach. He also warned that any lapse in serving public interest would not be tolerated.

Impact of Statewide Outreach Campaign

Speaking about the broader campaign, Dhami said that in the past one and a half months, a large number of residents across Uttarakhand have benefited from the initiative. He described it as a step toward strengthening the bond of trust between the government and the public.

The Chief Minister also highlighted employment efforts, stating that more than 28,000 young people have been provided government jobs so far. He stressed that recruitment processes are being conducted in a transparent and fair manner. Alongside public sector employment, the government is encouraging self-employment and entrepreneurship to promote self-reliance among youth.

Focus on Farmers and Rural Development

Turning to agriculture, he said that several measures are underway to safeguard farmers’ interests and enhance their income. These include efforts to improve irrigation facilities, ensure better prices for produce, and introduce modern agricultural practices.

In rural Haridwar, he noted improvements in basic infrastructure such as roads, electricity supply, and drinking water facilities. Health and education services, he said, have also seen visible upgrades. Programmes aimed at women’s safety and empowerment are being implemented alongside skill development initiatives for youth.

Policy Decisions and Future Vision

The Chief Minister also referred to the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code in the state, describing it as a significant decision intended to promote equality and social harmony. He said the move reflects the government’s commitment to justice and balanced development.

Highlighting coordination between the state and central governments, Dhami said that collaborative efforts have accelerated development projects. The use of technology and transparent systems, he added, has helped improve efficiency and reduce corruption.

Concluding his address, he said public feedback acts as guidance for the administration. With collective effort and continued public participation, he expressed confidence that Uttarakhand can achieve its development goals and strengthen its position among leading states in the country.
