Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad Police Step Up Crime Prevention, More Than 1,000 Criminals Face Three-Year Prison Terms
Ghaziabad: In only four months, the Ghaziabad Police Commissionerate used Section 129(g) of the BNSS to put 1,059 convicts under limitation. For three years, the offenders have been subject to these limitations. The offenders must report to their local police station once a week throughout the restricted period.

Beat constables are keeping an eye on them by asking for their whereabouts and making video calls. In the meanwhile, 5,301 offenders have received notifications as part of preventative measures. Police claim that throughout the limitation time, the offenders have not gone unpunished.
Additionally, police officers are visiting their houses to do surprise verifications. The goal of this ongoing surveillance is to determine who is avoiding crime and who is making an effort to get back into it.
A drive to detect anti-social characters engaging in theft, robbery, snatching, dacoity, burglary, car theft, and disrupting public order has been underway in all police station regions since July 29. By requiring them to sign bonds via the Assistant Commissioner of Police’s Executive Magistrate Court, the offenders were legally tied.
According to the police, prompt decision-making, the direct use of magistratal powers, and the assistance of contemporary technology have all boosted preventative policing since the Commissionerate system was put into place. According to the police, this is causing crime to decline.
“Continuous monitoring is an essential component of the action being taken under Section 129(g) of the BNSS; it goes beyond simple prohibitions. Public safety is the first concern for the Ghaziabad Police, and they will keep a close eye on offenders,” said J Ravinder Goud, Commissioner of Police.
