Shivraj Patil: Congressman and former Union Minister Shivraj Patil died in Latur, Maharashtra. He was ninety-one years old. On Friday, December 12, at approximately 6.30 a.m., he passed away at his home in Deoghar, Latur.

Patil was receiving treatment at home after being unwell a few days ago. He was chosen to represent Chakur in the Latur district as a Congress leader. He has won seven Lok Sabha seats from the Latur constituency. In addition, he served as a Union Minister and Speaker of the Lok Sabha.
In 2004, Shivraj Patil lost his seat in the Lok Sabha. He assumed the position of Union Home Minister after being appointed to the Rajya Sabha. Congress has expressed sorrow at his passing, as have all of its employees.
At the Center, he served in a number of additional ministerial capacities in the fields of tourism, science and technology, commerce, defense, and civil aviation. From 2010 to 2015, he also held the positions of Administrator of Chandigarh and Governor of Punjab.
In 2008, a significant terrorist incident occurred in Mumbai when he was serving as the Union Home Minister. The attack on November 26 claimed the lives of several innocent persons as well as a number of senior police officials. The government was held accountable by the opposition. On November 30, 2008, Patil accepted moral responsibility for the assault and resigned as Home Minister.
Beginning as the mayor of Latur and continuing through many central ministerial positions, including governor of Punjab, Shivraj Patil Chakurkar’s political career lasted several decades.
