The driver evidently failed to negotiate a tight bend and struck the safety wall before it plunged down the canyon, causing the accident to occur on the Chintur-Naredumilli ghat route.

The bus was on its way to Annavaram with 37 passengers, including two drivers.

After visiting the Bhadrachalam temple in Telangana, the passengers, all from the Chittoor area, were traveling to the Annavaram shrine in the Kakinada district.

It took some time for the police in Mothugunta to get the information since there was no mobile phone network service in the vicinity of the accident.

Officers rushed to the scene and began rescuing people. There were eight corpses found there. The wounded were sent to a Chintur hospital.

Three ambulances and five police cars were called into action to transport the wounded.

The accident shocked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. He discussed the relief and rescue efforts with authorities. He gave them instructions to make sure the wounded received the finest care possible.

Tribal Welfare and Women and Child Welfare Minister G. Sandhya Rani, along with Home Minister V. Anitha, departed for the scene of the accident. They instructed the Alluri Sitharamaraju district’s collector and superintendent of police to make sure the victims received all available assistance.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed alarm over the rise in traffic accidents and, last month, requested a third-party assessment to determine the reasons.

The Chief Minister voiced his concerns at the Road Safety Council meeting over the state’s 15,462 traffic incidents this year, which have claimed 6,433 lives.

Officials claim that 79% of collisions are caused by speeding, 3% by driving on the wrong side, and 1% by drinking and cell phones.

In terms of traffic accidents, Andhra Pradesh is ranked seventh in the nation.
