Patna Diary: ‘No delay, Nishant should join politics’
Patna Diary: For a long time, there has been talk of Nishant Kumar, the son of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, going into politics. Nishant hasn’t made it apparent that he wants to enter politics, but Nitish hasn’t discussed the matter either. Nonetheless, Nitish’s close associates and other Janata Dal (United) activists and officials are advocating for him to enter active politics. Shravan Kumar, a senior JD(U) politician and minister, has joined the clamor and said that Nishant should enter politics right now since it is already extremely late.

Tej Pratap receives another power jolt
Tej Pratap Yadav, the older son of Lalu Prasad, appears to have endless issues. He first suffered a humiliating loss in the Assembly elections when Lalu removed him from the RJD and his family for six years. It was then discovered that he owed Rs 3.61 lakh in unpaid power bills for his home in Beur, Patna, which had been unpaid since July 2022. There are now rumors that he has settled the debt. He recently made news when he lost the Bihar Assembly elections and had to leave his official house. In the Mahua constituency, he finished third.
Refocusing on booze and the former Bihar chief minister
Jitan Ram Manjhi, HAM politician and former chief minister of Bihar, has gained attention for his opinions about Nitish Kumar’s ban. He recently claimed to have submitted a third request for a reconsideration of the booze prohibition to current Chief Minister Nitish. It says that a worker shouldn’t be detained for drinking alcohol on his way home from work. The impoverished are arrested after being forced to undergo a breathalyzer test and sent to prison, while those possessing thousands of liters of alcohol are released by the police. “Mahua (raw material) and sugarcane juice were used by my father to make liquor; that type of liquor is beneficial.” Five lakh charges are still outstanding against members of his group, Musahar.
