Saraogi, a former cabinet member, succeeds Dilip Jaiswal, who was sworn in last month as the state’s minister of industries in the Nitish Kumar administration. Jaiswal has been the president of the Bihar BJP for around two years.

Saraogi is a member of the Vaishya community, much as Jaiswal. According to party insiders, the move adheres to the BJP’s professed “one person, one post” tenet.

“BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda has appointed Saraogi as the state president with immediate effect,” BJP national general secretary Arun Singh said in a letter.

“The party has trusted me, and I will do everything in my power to meet their expectations,” Saraogi said. We shall endeavor to advance the celebration. Additionally, he emphasized the party’s internal evaluation system, saying, “The party closely monitors each and every one of its employees.” It keeps track of everyone’s actions.

Saraogi, 56, was born on August 28, 1969, and has a close relationship with the business community. Since his time as a student, he has been involved with the BJP and its related organizations, and he has an MBA. In 1995, he officially joined the BJP after starting his political career with the ABVP.

Saraogi began his political career by winning a Darbhanga Municipal Corporation ward election. In February and March of 2005, he was elected as an MLA from Darbhanga Urban. He was elected again in 2005, 2010, 2015, 2020, and 2025. He improved his reputation within the party when he beat VIP candidate Umesh Sahani in the 2025 election.

Saraogi is a well-known figure in Darbhanga city and is regarded as a clean and honest leader. He was named head of the Assembly’s Estimates Committee in 2018.
