“Pitch Kaisa Hain?” asks Rohit Sharma during the Caribbean’s first practice session

In their attempt to create an impression in the Super 8, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Kuldeep Yadav went above and beyond during the Indian team’s first practice session of the T20 World Cup in the Caribbean.

After the group stage of the ICC tournament, Kohli’s scores in the three innings were 1, 4, and 0. He did not allow himself to relax on the challenging pitches of New York.

When it counts most, in the Super 8s and the tournament’s knockout rounds, pundits and fans alike anticipate that the superstar will shine.

On Thursday, India takes on Afghanistan in their first Super 8 match at the newly renovated Kensington Oval in this city.

Neither as a bowler nor as a batsman, Jadeja has contributed anything noteworthy thus far. To be fair to the outstanding all-around player, on the pace-friendly surfaces in New York, he was not really needed with the ball and only had to bat once.

Kuldeep’s situation is unique since he hasn’t yet been included in the starting lineup. He is anticipated to contribute significantly, however, in Caribbean conditions where spinners have enjoyed themselves.

After finishing the New York leg on June 12, India had not taken the field; therefore, every member of the team showed up for the practice session. The players were eager to get as much done as they could at Monday’s practice since inclement weather prevented them from playing or practicing in Fort Lauderdale.

The spotlight is now on the surfaces given at the six Caribbean sites, since the New York pitch has been under continual criticism. 200 is regarded as a par score in the IPL and has only been surpassed twice, both times in the Caribbean. Most of the time, even 150 has proven to be a formidable number.

Is it pitch-perfect? Rohit queries his associates

Given this, it was hardly shocking when India captain Rohit Sharma asked his teammates as he entered the nets about the practice pitches.

He questioned his main pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, who seemed happy with the training surfaces, “Pitch kaisa hain (how is the pitch)?”

Jadeja and Kohli engage in a vigorous batting session.

Kohli was the first player to hit the nets with Jadeja after warming up in the playing area. Prioritizing throwdowns for a minimum of half an hour, the former skipper faced Kuldeep and Hardik Pandya.

Before rehearsing the pull against Bumrah, Kohli was seen trying for lofted drives over extra cover and down the pitch. The top bowler for India got one to rise quickly from behind the length, and Kohli did a good job of hooking it in the fine-leg area. After that, they grinned wryly at each other.

After a short rest, Rahul Dravid, the coach, and Yuzvendra Chahal gave Kohli some mild jabs.

Jadeja, batting in the next net, attempted an inside-out drive over extra cover and a slog sweep to counter a net bowler’s leg spin.

In the nets, Bumrah, Hardik, Kuldeep, and Axar Patel were challenged by Rishabh Pant, who has so far emerged as India’s best hitter. After that, Hardik went back to the field of play to work on his range-hitting.

The following group to bat in the nets was made up of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shivam Dube, and Suryakumar Yadav.

Siraj and Arshdeep Singh got the ball to swing freely because of the wind that was blowing through the stadium.
