Three independent MLAs offer the BJP government in Arunachal their utmost support

On Monday, the Chief Minister Pema Khandu-led BJP administration received the unwavering support of all three Independent MLAs in the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly.

The Independent MLAs, Tenzin Nyima Glow (Thrizino-Buragaon), Laisam Simai (Nampong), and Wanglam Sawin (Khonsa East), according to BJP sources, informed the Khandu-led administration of their choice in a letter of support.

“Heartfelt thanks to Independent MLAs Shri Laisam Simai Ji, Shri Wanglam Sawin Ji, and Shri Tenzin Nima Glow Ji for extending their support to the BJP government in Arunachal Pradesh,” the Chief Minister later said in an X post.

“Your choice, as expressed in your letter of support, demonstrates your commitment to the advancement of the state. We shall keep collaborating to advance Arunachal Pradesh’s growth and prosperity. I appreciate your belief in me and your help,” Khandu said.

Sawin and Simai were re-elected from their Assembly seats, while Tenzin Nima Glow defeated two-term BJP MLA Kumsi Sidisow by a margin of 400 votes to win the Thrizino-Buragaon Assembly seat in the West Kameng district.

In the 60-member Assembly, the BJP won 46 seats in the April 19 Assembly elections, five more than it had in 2019.

The NCP, led by Ajit Pawar, received three seats, the People’s Party of Arunachal received two, and the Congress received one. The National People’s Party (NPP), led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, garnered five seats.

The independent candidates took three seats.

The BJP administration has already received the endorsement of the NPP, NCP, and PPA.

The Northeastern Chapter of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), headed by the BJP, includes the NPP and NCP as component partners.
