Over 3,200 pets have been flown by Akasa Air since its start; the airline has raised the weight restriction for dogs

May 8, New Delhi, India: Since its November 2022 start, Akasa Air has transported over 3,200 pets as part of its pet-travel program, the airline said.

As a result of consumer feedback, Akasa Air has raised the weight restriction that pets are allowed to bring into the cabin from 7 kg to 10 kg, including the weight of the container.

The airline said in a statement on Wednesday that this improvement demonstrates its dedication to consistently improving its offerings to satisfy passengers’ changing demands.

In addition, the airline has implemented a 15-day validity extension for pet travel certificates, providing customers—particularly those making quick return trips—with additional options.

On Akasa Air, pet owners may take advantage of many free value-added services, such as reserved window seats, priority luggage delivery, and priority boarding.

Akasa Air said that in order to guarantee the greatest levels of care, safety, and comfort during the trip, it has made large investments in research and training across its customer service centers, airports, and in-flight crews.

The airline also announced that it has joined forces with the Umeed for Animals Foundation to put best practices into effect and guarantee ongoing advancements in pet safety and comfort.

Co-founder and chief marketing and experience officer Belson Coutinho of Akasa Air thanked pet owners for their encouragement and helpful criticism, emphasizing how it has influenced improvements to the Pets on Akasa service. He underlined the airline’s dedication to hearing what passengers have to say in order to make improvements over time.

Pets on Akasa, which debuted on November 1, 2022, enables users to bring their cats and dogs on domestic flights between 22 locations, either in the cabin or as cargo, depending on their weight.

For the convenience of its customers, Akasa Air has a brand-new fleet with plenty of legroom and USB charging connections in each seat.

To promote accessibility, Akasa Air has included Braille menu cards and safety instructions for those with vision impairments on board.
